Huda Beauty Faux Filter Foundation | Product Review

Huda Beauty has taken social media by storm, not only with her collection of lashes but also with her lip and face products! She's the ultimate beauty queen, so why not try her foundation?

I saw the foundation across many websites, blogs and all over Instagram for a start. A few of you beauties also asked me to try the product and review it too, so here we are!

Huda Beauty's foundation was one of the beauty products on my reviewing list for some time and I'm actually quite glad I decided to do this.

The Foundation

I’d describe this foundation as a very full coverage product. The consistency of the foundation is very thick and creamy, so a little bit does go a very long way! When using my regular Nars foundation, I'm able to cover my full face with around three pumps of the product. However, with this particular foundation I found I could cover majority of my face with one pump, so the maximum I'd use is two pumps of the foundation.

The texture of the foundation is creamy and has a semi-matt finish once the product has been buffed into the skin. I found that the foundation was quite dry on my skin type (combination), so when wearing the foundation I didn't feel at my best. I felt as though you could make out the texture of my skin more and that my pores were a lot more visible due to the thickness of the product. If you have dry/combination skin then this product wouldn't be my first choice, with that said the coverage is insane!

The longevity and wear of the foundation is incredible and I personally cannot fault this! Once it's buffed into the skin and set, that make-up base is not going ANYWHERE!! This is probably one of the best foundations, I've used in terms of long-wear, but be prepared for a heavier make-up look if this is what you're looking for.

The packaging is quite simple, with the Huda Beauty logo on the side as shown in the photo above - it gives the bottle a sleek look and I quite like the feel of it too.

The Shades

All though there are many shades within the foundation range, I do not feel as though the shades quite cater for deeper skin tones. The deeper/darker shades are either very red undertoned or orange as most of you would say or either too neutral so the foundation leaves a slight white cast/ashyness on the skin.

To get my perfect shade, I STILL have to mix my Huda Beauty foundation (Macchiato) with my regular Nars foundation (Syracuse) to achieve the perfect shade which matches my natural undertone. Although this may be a little bit of a phaff, this isn't a deal breaker for me!

Overall Review

I think this product isn't for the light hearted! If you're anything like me where you like to go between a medium to full coverage foundation then this may work for you, given the pros/cons of the product.

However, if you're very much into your natural and light make-up then this product is a no-go for you! Simply due to the fact it is quite a thick foundation and you most likely will not like the way it sits on your skin, especially if you're not used to wearing a heavier make-up base!

Personally, I'd use this foundation for an evening event or even a wedding due to the long-wearing factor it has. I wouldn't recommend wearing this on a day to day basis as it may clog up any pores resulting in spots or excessive oil/sebum being released from your skin.

I hope this review helps!

Love,
